The Planning Reports collection has been built over many decades, and primarily consists of publications by or about local communities planning their use of space and infrastructure. Common focuses are land use, zoning, transportation, recreation, urban renewal, and regional planning. The largest collection is of Michigan communities, but we also have reports for communities outside of Michigan, usually major cities.
For many years the collection was housed in the Charles W. Barr Planning & Design Library in the Urban Planning Building. In spring 2008 the collection moved to the center portion of the basement of the main library.
